Koneba has developed and certified a Kortex H horizontal fire curtain, which has been tested in accordance with ISO 21524, achieving fire resistance classifications of E120 and EW120. This standard sets out procedures for assessing the fire performance of textile barriers, including horizontal configurations, enabling the performance of this type of solution to be properly verified under conditions representative of their actual use. Although conventional fire curtains are usually tested in accordance with standard EN 1634, this standard is designed to determine the fire resistance of assemblies intended for installation in vertical openings; consequently, its scope is limited to curtains and partition elements in a vertical position.

Horizontal fire curtains are an advanced compartmentalisation solution designed to limit the spread of fire, smoke and hot gases in multi-storey buildings with high occupancy and open-plan layouts, such as shopping centres, airports, museums and buildings with atriums, amongst others. These barriers deploy automatically in the event of a fire, creating a temporary compartmentalisation that prevents the vertical spread of fire between storeys. Their flexible design allows them to be incorporated into projects where traditional solutions are not viable, facilitating architectural integration and adaptation to complex geometries.
